Hvorfor dette bruksområdet

CS2: the tickrate forgives nothing

Counter-Strike 2 dropped fixed tickrate for "sub-tick" architecture, but reality stays the same: a server struggling to maintain 64 updates per second produces unregistered hits and screaming players. The CS2 server is 95% single-threaded — raw frequency of the main core determines stability, exactly like Minecraft.

Our Apex and Titan plans run Ryzen 9 at 5.7 GHz boost: the highest frequency available in VPS hosting. Measured client-side with net_graph: a Titan holds a stable 64 tick with 24 players and SourceMod plugins, where a 2.4 GHz VPS dips below 50 in late rounds with smokes and molotovs.

Installation via SteamCMD

sudo apt install lib32gcc-s1 steamcmd
steamcmd +force_install_dir /home/cs2/server \
  +login anonymous +app_update 730 validate +quit

Then launch with competitive-mode parameters:

./game/bin/linuxsteamrt64/cs2 -dedicated -console \
  +map de_dust2 +game_mode 1 +game_type 0 \
  -maxplayers 24 +sv_setsteamaccount YOUR_GSLT

The GSLT (Game Server Login Token) is generated on the Steam portal with app ID 730. Without it, your server stays invisible in the server browser.

Anti-DDoS: the real reason to be here

Competitive CS2 servers suffer targeted attacks mid-match — a sore loser can knock your server offline for a few euros. Our in-house anti-DDoS recognizes the Source/A2S protocol and tells a genuine status query from a flood: mitigation triggers in under a second, directly at network level, without a GRE tunnel that would add 10-15 ms.

Network: every millisecond counts

At 64 tick, the server sends an update every 15.6 ms. A Parisian player on our Paris site plays at 4 ms; Frankfurt covers Europe under 20 ms. The 10 Gbps port guarantees 24 players in a full gunfight never saturate the link — a CS2 match uses about 250 MB per hour, but it's the bursts that matter.

Setting up a match server

For tournaments, install MatchZy or PugSetup via SourceMod: automatic restarts, map veto system, demo recording. On NVMe Gen4, the map change between matches takes 3 seconds instead of 20.

Kom raskt i gang

  1. 1Deploy a Titan, Ubuntu 24.04, site closest to your players.
  2. 2Install lib32gcc-s1 and SteamCMD, download app 730.
  3. 3Generate a GSLT token on the Steam portal (app 730).
  4. 4Open 27015/tcp+udp in UFW, launch the dedicated server.
  5. 5Install Metamod + SourceMod + MatchZy for matches.
