DDR5: what the new memory actually changes for your VPS

Since the complete fleet renewal of 2024-2025, every hypervisor we operate runs DDR5 ECC. Beyond the spec sheet, here's what it concretely changes for your applications.

Doubled bandwidth, contained latency

DDR5-4800 delivers about 38 GB/s per channel versus 25 GB/s for DDR4-3200. On memory-hungry workloads — in-RAM databases, Redis caches, search indexes — we measure 18 to 27% more throughput on identical applications.

ECC, finally everywhere

DDR5 embeds on-die error correction on top of classic ECC. Measured across our fleet: corrected memory errors dropped 40% between 2023 and 2025, and we recorded zero RAM-related data corruption over the period.

What it means per plan

  • Apex / Titan (DDR5 + Ryzen 9): memory-latency-sensitive applications (PHP, Python) gain 8 to 12% responsiveness.
  • Quantum / Singularity (DDR5 + EPYC): EPYC's 12 memory channels fully exploit DDR5 — up to 460 GB/s theoretical per socket.

In short

DDR5 won't make brochure headlines, but it's exactly the kind of invisible foundation that explains why two VPS that are "identical on paper" behave differently in production. With us, it's now the standard across 100% of the fleet.
